Tracey Johnston is an award winning artist, illustrator and maker working from her home studio in Aberdeen, north-east Scotland.  Graduating in the early 90’s from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, one of the oldest fine art institutions in Scotland, Tracey holds a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art specialising in Printmaking and an MA in Fine Art.

Her paintings and prints are held in many public and private art collections including Aberdeen Archives, Galleries and Museums, The Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, Paintings in Hospitals Scotland, and Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust.

A John Kinross Scholar, awarded by the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, Tracey studied Italian Art and Architecture in Florence, Italy.  The love of Italian art and culture endures and Tracey has travelled widely through-out Italy studying fresco painting and living for some time near Verona in Northern Italy.

Her work is inspired primarily by the Renaissance and these tiny Secret Garden paintings are a celebration of ‘Primavera’ by Sandro Botticelli’s.   Painted in the early 1480's the painting large in scale depicts a group of figures from classical mythology in a garden - an allegory based on the celebration of spring. Set in a mythical forest the springtime scene incorporates over 500 plant species including 200 different flowers.
