Hand coloured silk.
260mm x 340 x 90mm
Anne has a degree in textile design and has immersed herself in millinery and bespoke flower-making for over 40 years. She describes her journey of discovery as a deeply personal experience and her passion for nature and conservation is the source of her creative life. Predominantly self-taught, Anne begins each study with a detailed examination of the structure of her subject to reveal its essence, and then interprets each piece in a variety of silk fabric and millinery fabrics. The creation of these flowers demonstrates a forensic attention to detail, stretching the boundaries of the craft.
She is currently working on her book, Making Silk Flowers, as well as teaching at West Dean College, and working on commissions from Yinka Shonibare MBE creating the floral elements of his sculptures.
This piece is shown at Atelier Beside the Sea as part of the Bloom Exhibition.
