With a background in textile printing Stephen Dow switched to printmaking on paper when setting Monoprinting is the main technique in his work with prints often taken from card stencils he has arranged (similar to collagraph printing). Recently collages have become an important part of his practice, previously they were simply used to work out a composition of a print but are now often exhibited along side his monoprints to describe the printmaking process.

Dow takes inspiration from his surroundings & environment when making work, alternating between architectural and botanical references resulting in two quite different styles; constructed and sculptural versus organic and fluid.

This work is shown at Atelier Beside the Sea as part of the Collage exhibition, Cut & Paste.
