John Hewitt’s creative practice is rooted in drawing and printmaking. He produces highly detailed works in pencil and makes daily gel-pen sketchbook drawings which are often re-crafted into conservation-quality digital prints.
His artworks are housed in collections that include the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Whitworth Art Gallery, the Government Art Collection and the Museum of London.
John completed a doctorate on drawing and memory in 2008. In 2016 he won the Hugh Casson Drawing Prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, for a rendering of Staffordshire flatback figures.
A selection of John's work is on show as part of Orna-Mantle-Pieces, a Staffordshire Pottery inspired show.
