I found this small characteristic so distinctive that I decided to make it the starting point for an art print. The composition depicts an everyday domestic scene, combining the human figure with interiors, objects, patterns and a cat. It draws on my interest in artists including Édouard Vuillard, Gwen John, Ben Nicholson and Louis Fratino. The work also reflects my experience of life drawing and my continuing interest in representing the human figure within its surroundings. Its visual language connects with Spanish Costumbrismo and traditions of depicting everyday life and local character. I created the artwork from individual ink drawings made on A3 specialised marker paper. I use calligraphic brushes, fine-line pens, sponges, sandpaper, watercolour, ink and charcoal to create the original elements. These drawings are scanned, digitally assembled and coloured to form the final composition.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGiclée print. His practice evolved from a lifelong passion for drawing, combining architectural precision with expressive ink, texture and colour. Inspired by direct experience and the act of “standing and staring”, he finds order within everyday chaos. Working from his photographs, he creates handmade drawings that are digitally layered and coloured, producing individually signed limited-edition art prints.
