Course summary:

This Hand Built Ceramics course starts with coiling – one of the most ancient and versatile methods of forming vessels with clay. A wonderfully meditative technique, you can set your own pace to create an interesting and unique oil burner.

This session follows a set project, working towards hand forming a two-part oil burner. Tom will initially demonstrate how to control form and then how to thin and smooth to give a professional finish. Once you have learnt how to control the shape you will move on to creating your own impactful piece using flat coils.

You will be able to apply your own decorative elements using coloured slips, incisions and mark making.

Tom will take the work back to his studio to apply a clear glazed the interior of the bowl and fire. You can collect your piece from us two weeks later, or we can arrange delivery to your home address (additional charges may apply).

This course is suitable for all levels.
