Course summary:

During this two day highly experimental course with Mary Dalton you will be able to explore a range of printmaking methods in combination to create some truly unique, dynamic pieces.

With the space and support to develop your own language of expression, you will be able to create hybrid prints through demonstrations and support from your tutor.

You will learn the basic techniques of:

  • Lino print
  • Collagraph
  • Paper Dry-point
  • Monoprint
  • Hand printing
  • Table top press printing

The course will involve a mixture of demonstrations, micro projects and individual work time to illustrate the different print methods that can be used and combined.

We will be printing by hand, an excellent way to learn as it means you can carry on at home without any specialist equipment. There will be a table top printing press available to use for some of the processes requiring higher pressure.

As an experimental course designed to push your technique and approach, we encourage collaboration and sharing of ideas. Mary will frequently encourage the group to talk about thoughts and ideas and we will culminate with verbal feedback from the group and your tutor.
