Under expert guidance from Eloise, you will learn the key techniques in making a tailored lampshade, using a combination of hand and machine sewing. Made using a single layer of fabric, carefully cut to fit the shape of the lampshade each piece is then stitched into place creating a tailored, form fitting look. Traditionally made using silk, this style of shade can be made using heavier weight fabrics and offer a fantastic opportunity to play with colour and pattern.
Eloise Scotland is fanatical about making hand stitched lampshades. Although each is hand sewn using traditional techniques, Eloise describes herself as a contemporary lampshade maker.
Self-taught in sewing and a firm believer in the therapeutic benefits of working with your hands, she finds the process of hand stitching a lampshade very satisfying. Originally studying upholstery, lampshades allowed her to indulge in her love of textiles which she is passionate about passing on.
An experienced tutor, Eloise teaches throughout the UK.
