Course summary:

This two-day masterclass with Mary Dalton offers an opportunity to use printmaking and the materials inherent to Mokulito (wooden lithography) as a drawing and mark-making process.

As with traditional lithography, Mokulito relies on the fact that water and oil do not mix, drawing your image using greasy inks and crayons onto the wooden printing matrix.

We will be combining the autographic drawn marks with graphic wood cut. You will be encouraged to explore your own individual language within the techniques taught. After processing, we will be working to print a small series of Mokulito prints.

Your design, techniques and processes will be informed by discussions with your tutor to help broaden your creative approach whilst learning this innovative technique.

This masterclass is suitable for all levels and is perfect for those wanting to take an experimental approach to drawing, mark-making and printing.

We will be working with oil-based inks without using solvent for clean-up. Please bring an apron or old top and a pair of washing-up gloves for clean-up.
