Lino print on coloured paper.
Christopher Brown was born in London. He studied at the Royal College of Art, where he studied illustration and met and later assisted the master of the linocut Edward Bawden.
Chris is an Illustrator Printmaker & Artist, senior lecturer in Graphic Arts at Liverpool School of Art and design and visiting lecturer at in Fashion Menswear at Central St Martins and in MA Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts.
Christopher Brown says he is unsure why it took him so long to start collecting Staffordshire as even when younger he loved the playfulness and cheeriness of the figures. They’ve an earthy reality unlike the refined porcelain of the period. Each figure unique the mould might be the same but the painting never is so each has its own character.
This work is on show as part of Orna-Mantle-Pieces, A Staffordshire Pottery inspired show.
