About the artist:
Originally from Lancashire, Cécile Garcia draws inspiration from her encounters with the coast and surrounding landscapes. Her enthusiasm for intuitive gestural mark-making and surface pattern design, shapes her creative process transforming elements of the landscape into abstract interpretations. Cécile's work is characterised by textural marks, abstracted and amplified colour. Echoes of Modernist and Expressionist influences weave through her work, culminating in prints and paintings that strive to capture an emotional response to the very essence of being immersed in nature. Now based in East Sussex, Cécile works from her studio by the sea.
