IMPORTANT UPDATE regarding international shipping!
USA Tariffs
Online orders from the US are paused on our website (www.atelierbrighton.co.uk) until further notice.
From 29 August 2025, the ‘de minimis’ exemption which allowed goods and gifts under $800 in value to enter the USA from other countries ‘duty-free’ will be removed and replaced by tariffs (duties). For postal imports into the USA, items will be assessed for duties using the country-specific tariffs. These tariffs work as a % applicable to the value of goods based on the item/s country of origin (manufacture). Items with a UK country of origin will incur a 10% tariff on the value of those items.
At Atelier Beside the Sea we use Royal Mail to ship our online orders. Royal Mail are currently updating their services to allow for duties to be calculated and charged on checkout to the customer to avoid unexpected charges further down the line. They are pausing their existing USA export services on Tuesday 26th August 2025 and their new USA export service should be available by the end of August.
Hopefully this means we can resume accepting and sending out online orders from the US at the beginning of September 2025. We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide updates as soon as we can.
EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)
EU online orders remain paused on our website (www.atelierbrighton.co.uk) until further notice.
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) went into effect on 13 December 2024. It applies to all non-food consumer products sold in the European Economic Area (EEA) (which includes all EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway) and Northern Ireland (NI). Under the GPSR, products can't be placed on the EU market unless they have an EU-based economic operator responsible for key safety tasks.
We are currently exploring our options to resume trading in the EU. We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide updates as soon as we can.
Shipping policy
All orders are processed within 1 to 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive another notification when your order has shipped.
Domestic Shipping Rates and Estimates
Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
In-store pickup
You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup at Atelier Beside the Sea, 165 Kings Road Arches, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1NB. After placing your order and selecting local pickup at checkout, your order will be prepared and ready for pick up within 1 to 3 business days. We will send you an email when your order is ready along with instructions.
Our in-store pickup hours are 11am - 5pm on Monday-Sunday. Please have your order confirmation email with you when you come.
International Shipping
We offer international shipping worldwide, except for the following: EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Northern Ireland and United States.
Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
Your order may be subject to import taxes (including VAT), duties and a clearance fee, which are incurred once your parcel reaches your destination country. Taxes, duties and clearance fees are set by the destination country and payable by you (the customer). Atelier Beside the Sea is not liable for these charges. Consult your country's customs regulations for further details.
How do I check the status of my order?
When your order has shipped, if applicable, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available.
If you haven’t received your order within 7 days (UK) or 14 (International) of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at hello@atelierbrighton.co.uk with your name and order number, and we will look into it for you.
Refunds, returns, and exchanges

We accept returns up to 14 days after delivery, if the item is unused and in its original condition, and we will refund the full order amount minus the shipping costs for the return.
In the event that your order arrives damaged in any way, please email us as soon as possible at hello@atelierbrighton.co.uk with your order number and a photo of the item’s condition. We address these on a case-by-case basis but will try our best to work towards a satisfactory solution.
