“In modern society, we buy so much but value so little. My ceramics aim to re-evaluate and challenge this notion.”
Casts of an original Victorian "Frozen Charlotte" penny doll mudlarked along the Thames. Mounted upon various casts of tiny domestic pastry tins and chocolate moulds with casts of discarded ephemera additions.
W9 x H10 x D5.5 cm approximately.
The discarded object; whether it be a vintage domestic item, a mudlarked find, even a piece of plastic packaging are all relevant to Rose’s creative process: to make comment on mass consumerism within contemporary society. Rose has lived in Oxford for nearly forty years. Involved in ceramics since 1998, she graduated with a first-class B.A. in 2008. Since 2017, she has run pottery courses for Abingdon & Witney College in addition to independent workshops.
