Welcome to Otti, the colourful world of handmade textiles by Brighton maker Rosie Paine. I create hand-tufted and needle-punched wall hangings inspired by the Sussex landscape and changing seasons. My work blends bold shapes with soft textures, using wool and yarn to craft botanical, nature-led designs that bring warmth and joy. Working from my Brighton studio, I explore colour, texture, and form through slow, mindful textile techniques. Needle punch allows for fine detail and a meditative pace, keeping pieces smaller and intricate, while rug tufting has let me scale up, creating bigger, bolder designs. The two techniques complement each other: one quiet and focused, the other loud, physical, and expansive. Working across both techniques gives me the freedom to match the making to the mood - whether it’s intimate or energetic, and to craft pieces that that feel joyful and full of their own unique energy.
