About the artist:
Amy Burrows is linocut artist working in Hove. Amy starts with photographs of domestic objects and edits the compositions, finding beauty in the circular forms of pots and vessels. She then creates reduction linocuts by carefully considering the tonal values of the shapes and forms in the images she works from, carving away one layer at a time. She is becoming increasingly interested in adapting the scale and position of objects in her still life scenes finding influence from female surrealist artists. Amy aims to create a sense of balance and unity in her compositions through the use of a simple colour palette, sometimes introducing texture through the application of the ink onto the block.
