About the artist:
Hanna has a mixed-media practice, based in acrylics, and uses a collage-style process to add oil pastels, spray paints, coloured pencils, and paper to create bold gestural marks, scribbles, scratches, symbolic totems, texture, and text. Using tools, she adds and subtracts layers, building and excavating to allow each action to react to the previous one, and the artwork to reveal itself spontaneously. She leans into experimentation & the thrill of failure. This sense of embracing the unknown & the imperfect that excites Hanna. She gives herself over to her senses and emotions when creating, and through a stream of consciousness & finds she can articulate the intangible and internalized. Her desire is that viewers look deeper into her artwork, and find a connection with their own raw, rebellious, and messy spirit. The work is inspired by human creativity including design, music, fashion, graffiti, and lyrics. Being drawn to patina and fading glamour.
