About the artist:
George Kowzan lives in the Blackwater estuary town of Maldon, Essex and works from a studio at the bottom of his garden. He studied art at Brighton Poly in the seventies before moving to Jersey in the Channel Islands, then Gibraltar, Spain and ultimately Maldon. He has worked in a wide variety of mediums, techniques and styles now settling on his happy medium of oil paint. Kowzan combines his broad knowledge of art history with experimental art, often drawing his inspiration from lived experience. Most recently, his focus has been on the microcosm of his own garden. He, like many others, struggles with darker moods during the winter months and seeks solace in brighter colours. His studio is a permanent riot of strong colour, and a happy space. These latest paintings follow on from his last solo show, "Pond", portraying the adventures of a visiting cat to his wildlife garden pond.
Kowzan has exhibited in France, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Taiwan as well as locally in Essex and London.
