About the artist:
I am a designer/maker of kiln-formed glass art with over 20 years working in this fascinating, colourful medium. Originally from Yorkshire and having long ago studied in Brighton, I now live in Crystal Palace. An early interest in glass began on my Design Degree, was later re-awakened on a City and Guilds course and by Post-Grad qualifications gained at Central St Martins. Inspiration for my glasswork often comes from natural forms and man-made textures that I translate into graphic patterns in colourful fused glass. My recent ‘Fragmented Glow’ work demands a different creative approach involving deliberately breaking the glass. This starting point allows abstract ‘patterns’ to become apparent when I re-form the broken shards. The unique nature of each piece is the result of a creative exploration that is itself a stage in my own journey with glass.
