”A mixed media artwork featuring Japanese ornamental hair combs and pins: Kanzashi. Part of an ongoing project exploring Kanzashi. Inspired by my love of Japanese arts & crafts; my travels in Japan; my late father’s Japanese artefacts; and the untold stories the objects hold.”

About the artist:
My work fits broadly into fine art & illustration. I produce original artworks in a variety of 2D media, such as paintings, paper cut-outs, wooden decorations, and relief prints. I particularly enjoy creating small and miniature paintings on paper using gouache, watercolour, and lustres. My chosen subject matter consistently features flora and fauna, pattern and decoration. I have a keen interest in applied & decorative arts including textiles, folk embroidery, paper crafts, and ceramics. Less obviously, I am also exploring memories, family connections & genealogy within my work. I work from my home studio on the East Sussex coast.
