About the artist:
Based in the heart of St Austell, Cornwall, I am an artist and maker inspired by the beauty of nature, the sea, and the sky. I create contemporary brooches that celebrate form, texture and storytelling using mixed metals. After graduating from a Crafts degree in 1996, I turned my attention elsewhere and so I’ve only recently returned to working in metal — a long-awaited reconnection with a material I love. My Big Beautiful Brooches series explores natural forms and tidal rhythms, with pieces like Full Moon, New Moon, Sea Anemone, Fish Frames, and Rockpools inspired by the coast and marine life. Each piece is individually hand-fabricated using techniques such as piercing, forming and soldering, with a focus on tactile surfaces and bold, sculptural shapes. These brooches are wearable statements — playful, organic and deeply rooted in a sense of place.
