About the artist:
My practice developed from discovering Etching after graduating and seeking a new artistic practice to enjoy outside of normal work and life. In 2021, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to study Etching at Il Bisonte Foundation in Florence, where I trained intensively for six months, broadening my own skills and awareness of the amazing printmaking world I had found myself in. Aside from this, I am self taught. Most of my work takes inspiration from landscape, Japanese influences, and themes of feminism. It feels poetic to use natural materials and allowing the chemical reactions of etching have an element of freedom to do as they would ‘naturally' to depict these subject matters that have strong impact on me. Recently, I have been exploring non-toxic etching techniques which has asked me to essentially relearn the processes, but learned instinct is prevailing. It's an important new journey, given the high levels of risk to human health and environment traditional etching poses.
