”In stories the fairy realms often seem to be accessed through liminal spaces like lakes and ponds. Folk tales speak of bottomless pools and magical beings or objects emerging from beautiful lakes. I like the idea that you don't need much though, maybe just a puddle and a rusty ladder, to access these unknown kingdoms.”

About the artist:
I am a Bristol-based artist whose work takes many forms, from intricately layered paper landscapes to stop-motion animations. The abiding mood is one of playful darkness and eerie beauty. Sometimes miniature, always detailed, my work asks you to peer into its world up-close. I am fascinated by the power of narrative and storytelling in helping us to imaginatively connect to the more-than-human world. Through references to myth, folktales and stories of my own invention, my work seeks to transport the viewer to other realms, and in doing so, re-enchant this one.
