Oil on canvas.
”Wonder Wheel is a memory of every Ferris wheel in every fair and city we ever had the joy to experience. It holds the childlike anticipation of slowly rising, the moment of stillness at the top, and the quiet thrill of the descent. The scene is painted from feeling rather than fact. A blur of colour, light and motion that captures joy, nostalgia and the view that never disappoints.”
Dimensions: 64 x 52 x 3 cm.
About the artist:
Em works in oil and cold wax to create layered, textured paintings that explore emotion, memory and atmosphere. Her process is intuitive and slow, built on adding and removing paint to reveal traces of what came before. Each piece begins with a feeling, not a plan. She is drawn to internal weather; the quiet shifts in mood we carry day to day. Her palette reflects the mood she is creating, and the work often holds a tension between presence and absence. Influenced by Turner and Fred Cuming's use of light and their ability to evoke mood without explanation, landscapes and open skies shape the emotional tone of her work especially even when evoking the manmade environment. These paintings aren’t about resolution. They hold space for what’s felt but often unspoken.
