About the artist:
Originally from Canterbury, Kent, Ruth currently lives in Edinburgh, having completed her BA (Hons) Performance Costume (2019) and MA Illustration (2021) at Edinburgh College of Art. Her family connection to Sussex however, and in particular the landscape of the South Downs, has been a central inspiration for her recent work. Linocut prints are a large part of Ruth’s artistic practice, producing small print editions inspired by the surrounding landscape and observations from nature, interwoven with folklore and mythology. Over the years, inspiration from Celtic mythology and Arthurian legends have greatly influenced Ruth’s work, as has her love of textiles, pattern and plants.
