About the artist:
Working as Maggie Magoo Designs, I’m a designer and artist based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Inspired by folk art, mid-century design, vintage ephemera, and the natural world, my work spans from printed textiles to surface pattern design. While much of it has been digital, I’ve recently felt a need to reconnect with a more analogue way of creating, especially in response to the growing presence of AI in creative spaces. My paper collages reflect that shift. Made using my stash of hand printed papers, each piece is unique, with layered colours and textures that can’t be replicated. The hands-on process of cutting and composing is calming, joyful, and intentionally imperfect. It’s a quiet act of resistance against digital precision and a celebration of the handmade. Influenced by my houseplants and vintage finds, this work expresses a love for the beauty and personality in everyday objects.
