About the artist:
Cally Conway is a London based printmaker, working predominately in the medium of linocut and print collage. Her prints focus on themes such as folklore, nature, and myths, and the symbolism contained within flora and fauna. She is drawn to celestial events and their interpretation in ancient cultures, along with mysterious and medieval texts such as herbals and illuminated manuscripts. Cally’s work ranges from personal print projects to fabric and wallpaper designs, and book cover illustrations. She has a keen interest in traditional crafts and the applied arts such as tapestry and historical costume embroidery. These influences underpin her image making and use of pattern and detail in her linocuts.
