This is a collection inspired by Iris’ dad who shines brightly in the sky. This brooch is called “Antonio el Sol Dorado” (Antonio the Golden Sun). Antonio happily lives in the sky and sometimes likes to wear a yellow or a golden suit. He loves music and The Beatles are his favourite band. He likes to eat “huevos de solecito” or “sunny side up” eggs. He is very chatty; he likes to give advice and he is also a wonderful friend. Antonio is married to La Luna and is also the father of the Black Eyed Girl Flower. When designing this brooch, Iris took inspiration from the wonderful colours and illustrations that can be found in the arts and crafts of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco; Mexico where her father was born. This brooch is bright, fun and light, and will make you feel sunny and stylish!

Iris De La Torre designs colourful and playful graphics which she transforms into jewellery, accessories and objects. Her work is inspired by Mexican Folk Arts and Crafts and the magic of 1960s graphic design. She considers thoughtfully and consciously every aspect of the design of a piece to ensure that it will have presence and longevity, so that the owner would love to keep it and look after it forever. She doesn’t follow fashion trends, but instead she draws inspiration from nature, history and life experiences that are close to her heart. Iris’ jewellery is mainly made by Perspex acrylic sheet; a recyclable material. She plans her work very well so that there is absolute minimum waste of materials. She assembles all pieces by hand in her Surrey studio with materials sourced, laser cut and digitally printed by her suppliers in the United Kingdom. Her aim is to produce an innovative graphic design narrative through her work and make a finished piece of jewellery design, object of illustration of which she is proud and embodies fun hope and optimism.
