About the artist:
Alma Boyes has an established background in ceramics and sculpture both as a maker and tutor spanning over 40 years. She studied ceramics at Bath Academy of Art in the late 70's and completed an MA in Ceramic Design in 1984. Working at the Morris Singer Foundry for 14 years she enlarged sculptures for prominent artists such as Sir Eduardo Paolozzi and William Timym MBE. The collection of vessels are thrown in a porcelain body and adorned by hand modelled birds. This body of work brings together experience of designing and producing industrial ceramics with many years of specialising in sculptures of endangered species for bronze casting.
