Lughnasadh is a giclée printed reproduction of an original paper collage by Cally Conway.

Titled after the Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season. Named after the Celtic God Lugh, the deity of light and skilled crafts, it celebrates not only the harvest but a coming together to recognise the fruits of labour. Part of the wheel of the year, Lughnasadh reflects the cycle of life through growth and sacrifice.

The original collage has been made with a combination of paste paper (a technique where flour and water is mixed with pigment to create textures) and Cally's original lino prints which she has cut out with a scalpel.

A giclée print is a high quality archival print of an original artwork. This means that they can be offered at a lower price to the original work. The original piece is either photographed or scanned and printed at a specialist printers onto high quality paper. Giclée prints do not fade with time and are printed on acid free/ph neutral paper.

Image size: 29 x 29.5 cm.
Paper size: 35 x 35 cm.
Open edition, titled and signed.

A lover of the natural world, Cally's prints are inspired by nature and folklore. She is based in London, but is constantly drawn to the beauty of nature and its place within the world. She began producing etchings and collagraphs at art college, and came to linocut printmaking much later. She really fell in love with the process of linocut; something about the carved line as a way to translate her sketches, and to explore pattern and texture.
