Silver wire cloisonne on copper with transparent and opalescent enamels, fired silver-wire- strung glass seed beads, and a hand-pierced brass tab setting. This piece is inspired by my mathematical studies in complex analysis.”

About the artist:
A mathematician by training and employment, Navah Langmeyer took up metalwork and jewellery making at the Baltimore Jewelry Center in 2016 where she discovered her particular passion for enamelling in the winter of 2019. Navah emigrated to the U.K in 2021 and is now active in the British enamelling community. Navah’s work is largely material-driven and incorporates traditional, experimental, and unconventional approaches to enamels, metals, and alternative elements to yield sculptural effects. Her starting point is often water, particularly the ocean, as she’s never met a body of water she didn’t like. However, the broader landscape, her mathematical background, current events, and pretty much anything she observes or experiences can provide inspiration. Her work ranges from quite literal, if whimsical, representations to abstractions attempting to capture a particular mood. The common element running through the entire body is a focus on eye-catching, vibrant colour and texture.
