About the artist:
Naomi J Kendall creates work primarily with paper which she cuts, folds, layers and weaves. Her work is meticulously hand made, playful and precise. She draws on techniques used in textiles, exploring their colours and patterns alongside those she finds in the built and natural environments. She incorporates mark making with inks and paints, most recently screen printing bold, layered surfaces to weave into. Recent exhibitions include the Derby Print Open 2025, and the Royal West of England Academy (RWA) Paperworks. Naomi won the 2022 Evolver Magazine Prize, is an RWA Network Artist, a member of the Paper Artist Collective and a master artisan in the Michelangelo Foundation’s Homo Faber Guide. A Foundation Course at Cheltenham School of Art was followed by a degree in art history at Leicester University and a postgraduate diploma at Manchester University in Gallery and Museum Studies. After a career in galleries and community arts she returned to making her own work.
