Play and Mend

Join acclaimed embroidery tutor Adriana Torres for a playful workshop as you first distress and then imaginatively mend fabric with a variety of techniques and stitches. Participants will receive a silk screened piece of fabric with a chair and sweater design, and will be invited to break, cut, and damage the cloth in a game lead by Adriana. Once they finish the game it will be time to fix!

Adriana will start by explaining simple mending techniques, and go into more detail as the game progresses. One of the techniques taught is the Brussels stitch - which is not usually used for mending, but which is Adriana’s favorite stitch and perfectly suited to repairing holes. At the end of the day you will have lots on new know-how and a beautiful mending sampler to use as a wall hanging for your home or studio.
