Samantha Boot originally studies Textiles at the Surrey Institute of Art, and has recently been awarded an Arts Council Developing Your Creative Practice grant.
Her practice is influenced primarily by her immediate surroundings; the landscape and stories entwined within it. She uses her daily walks as an opportunity to savour experiences and note seasonal changes.
Predominantly stitching by hand using repurposed or donated fabrics making each piece unique and a celebration of the materials chosen, a chance to revel in the handmade, in the perfection of imperfection. Each piece is a marker of time, a celebration of the slow, deliberate marks made using just thread and needle.
Samantha’s work has been exhibited recently throughout the UK and the US.
