by Sophie Elm.
'Spring' is a seven colour linocut print celebrating the wonderful spring flowers that we find here in the British countryside. The print depicts a decorative typographic mug bursting with spring blooms. It is the first print in Sophie's new 'Seasons' series.
It is printed onto a beautiful Japanese Okawara paper which has a warm natural tone, deckled edges and subtle surface texture, which occasionally has little flecks, which adds to it's charm. Prints will have a mix of cut and deckled edges.

Sophie Elm is a printmaker, designer and illustrator, creating linocut prints, printed homewares and ephemera. Her work is driven by seasonal changes in the garden and countryside around her. As humans, we have celebrated nature and the changing of the seasons in all cultures and through many art forms. Sophie feels this is important to continue to do today and her work is her personal method of doing so. Each lino print is hand burnished using a wooden spoon. Sophie uses oil based inks for their longevity and vibrant colour.
This work is shown at Atelier Beside the Sea as part of the Feast exhibition.
