Summerland is a giclée printed reproduction of an original paper collage by Cally Conway.
"Titled after the Wiccan term 'The Summerland' used to describe the afterlife. One quote states "The realm is neither in heaven or the underworld.It simply is: a non-physical reality much dense than ours". Whilst making this I thought lots about Bosch's 'Garden of Earthly Delights' and ended up with three sections which could symbolise heaven, earth, and the underworld (the two headed dragon my take on the three headed dog and guard of the underworld, Cerebus)."
The original collage has been made Cally's original lino prints which she has cut out with a scalpel and rearranged into a new composition.
A giclée print is a high quality archival print of an original artwork. This means that they can be offered at a lower price to the original work. The original piece is either photographed or scanned and printed at a specialist printers onto high quality paper. Giclée prints do not fade with time and are printed on acid free/ph neutral paper.

A lover of the natural world, Cally's prints are inspired by nature and folklore. She is based in London, but is constantly drawn to the beauty of nature and its place within the world. She began producing etchings and collagraphs at art college, and came to linocut printmaking much later. She really fell in love with the process of linocut; something about the carved line as a way to translate her sketches, and to explore pattern and texture.
