Students learn the art of Suminagashi, an ancient, endangered heritage craft, originating from Japan in the 8th Century.

The students will watch tutor demonstrations for each pattern, and technique, marbling onto a variety of papers and card.

They will gain an understanding of types of papers and weights to use as well as how colour changes the pattern.

They will finish the workshop using their patterned card to create a Japanese stab bound book.
