Based in rural Normandy, Angie Rozelaar is the creator of Artsy Cats, a playful illustration series in which cats take on the roles of famous artists and iconic artworks are reimagined through feline humour. Inspired by art history, modern illustration and a lifelong love of cats, her work combines visual wit with a distinctive, tactile aesthetic. Working digitally, Angie builds each illustration from simple shapes, bold compositions and carefully chosen colour. She incorporates textures drawn and painted by hand, which are then scanned and layered into the artwork, giving the finished images a warmth and sense of imperfection that contrasts with their graphic forms. Originally published as a book, Artsy Cats brings art history into the everyday world of cats, inviting viewers to recognise familiar references while discovering the playful visual details within each scene.
