Claudia has been working in metal for nearly 40 years from a forge in rural Herefordshire. She has a passion for nature, wildlife and animals and this is reflected in her work. Much of her work is in forged steel, where she creates life size animals and birds. These are made by forging, shaping and welding the metal. Claudia is also highly skilled in the ancient technique of repousse. A design is chased into sheet metal. This is then gradually raised and shaped using punches and chisels. The exhibition pieces combine Claudia's love of cats and of the Arts and Crafts movement. Copper boxes and panels were made using repousse and often incorporated cabochons.
