Karoline is an illustrator and printmaker based in Birmingham. Her work is characterised by bold outlines, pattern and bright colours so it is ideal for screen printing. She uses the technique to create a range of artwork including greetings cards and limited edition prints. Karoline is inspired by all the possibilities of screen print but particularly enjoys working with layers of flat, bold colour to create her work. She is also interested in folk art from around the world and that is where her love of pattern comes from. Karoline began her series of cat prints in 2016 and they were all originally based on her ginger cat. Sadly, he is no longer around but she has continued to work on the cat prints over the years. She draws the artwork by hand before making the separate layers for each different colour to be printed. Then using photo stencils, she carefully screen prints each layer of ink to create her colourful finished prints.
