13.5 Mog Duvet

A little cat peeks out over a striped duvet. The stripes are embossed in the paper, meaning they come out towards you and cast different shadows depending on the light source. The drawing is a drypoint, scratched into recyclable packaging, then sticky ink is pushed into all the scratches and carefully wiped away. Each print is then printed by hand. There are 10 in the edition - each one will be slightly different to the others due to the hands-on inking and printing processes.

Kate Alger is a multi-disciplinary artist-printmaker who lives in Guildford so just a short walk away from the river, the woods and the Surrey Hills. Her work is timeless, sensitive and entirely handmade. Most of Kate’s work is black and white and this recent ongoing series of little cats is no exception. Carefully scratched into recyclable packaging and carved out of lino, inked and wiped in the same way as her etchings, and printed onto 100% cotton rag paper, these little cats and their playful titles are a homage to some of our best – if slightly aloof – friends. Kate exhibits all over the UK and teaches regularly. She has been a finalist in the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year in 2024, 2025 and 2026, is currently nominated for Surrey Artist of the Year 2026 and is a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists. Kate welcomes commissions from individuals and businesses and is delighted to have been invited to be part of Feline Groovy.
