Mariska is a printmaker and children’s book illustrator based in Leiden, the Netherlands. She studied MA Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University where she spend most of her time in the print room. In her creative practice Mariska aims to create bright and joyful pieces using bold, simplified shapes, textures and a limited colour palette. She is drawn to, and finds inspiration in nature, folklore and mythology in all its forms. Mariska uses printmaking as a foundation to explore images through thinking and making.
