About the artist:
Abigail attained her degree in painting at Wimbledon School of Art and is currently a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in London. Abigail’s work is informed by nature, myth and her birthplace at the edge of a forest. Utilising different mediums as well as her main practice of oil painting she playfully re-contextualises woodlands, forests and secret gardens creating a portal to alternate worlds. Abigail’s practice references our place within nature and nature's importance to the survival of this place we call home. Philisopher Glenn Albrecht coined the term ‘Symbiocene’ and uses the term to argue that human history should enter a new era that is characterised by harmonious interactions between humans and all other living beings. “We envision a future in which the interaction of humans with other living beings is symbiotic in a figurative sense: Humans care for nature as much as nature nurtures us humans”.
