This large glass bowl suggests a birds eye view of a coastline cove. It is one of my 'Fragmented Glow' works using glass frits and glass confetti on both surfaces to evoke a landscape where land meets sea.
Fused glass.
Dimensions: 36.5 x 6 cm.
About the artist:
Originally from Yorkshire, via a year in Brighton, Janette has been based in South London for forty plus years and creating kiln-formed glass art for 25 of those in her Brixton studio and home in Crystal Palace. An early interest in glass on a Design Degree was later re-awakened on a City & Guilds course and by Post-Grad qualifications gained at Central St Martins. The inspiration for her work comes from a love of colour, natural forms and man-made textures that are merged to form beautiful, vibrant glasswork. A recent development has been the ‘Fragmented Glow’ work that involves deliberately breaking the glass. Janette uses this dynamic starting point as a creative exploration and guide towards work that will, by its very beginnings, always be unique.
