About the artist:
Jenny Rolfe-Herbert has been fascinated by printmaking for many years, from relief printing in an art class as a child to screen printing during her Fine Art degree to selling other artists’ prints while working in galleries. She remains deeply intrigued and amazed by the printmaking process and the results it produces. She now makes handmade screen prints and linocuts in Brighton. In her most recent works she has created a linocut alphabet series, due to her love of text and fonts. Her grandad was a sign writer, perhaps it runs in the family. The alphabet series is made in a rainbow spectrum of colours starting with A in red and running all the way through to the yellows, the blues and everything else in between before making it back round to red for Z. Jenny calculates and weighs out each ink to blend to create the full spectrum of colours for her A-Z. She then takes the individual printed letters and frames together to spell out words creating colourful combinations.
