View from the Hilltop

This is a mono print made using a silkscreen. I have essentially painted the image directly onto the screen and then printed in the conventional way producing one unique piece of work. This method allows lovely transparent colours to shine through each other.

About the artist:
Laura is a painter/printmaker working from her studio in Northwest London. She works as a screenprinter and uses mixed media for her painting. She has a BA painting degree and an MA in printmaking. Her work is semi abstract and themes include images from her travels as well as using quirky objects as inspiration. For her most recent work she has begun to add line drawn figures into her work having always been interested in body language. She loves colour and works with bold combinations in her work, capitalising on their interaction on the picture plane. She says she tries to work as organically as possible making decisions about the next mark responding to the last mark made. She has written 2 practical art books and has taught in many different settings. She has shown in many exhibitions- both solo and group - and is a member of the Greenwich Printmakers. She has won a number of prizes for her work.
