About the artist:
Lisa Takahashi is a Somerset-based, British-Japanese printmaker. She produces linocut, woodcut and card relief prints that reinterpret everyday scenes - cyclists, architecture and flowers - through expressive, overlapping forms and transparent colour. Lisa’s designs are developed using collage and experimental drawing, emphasising atmosphere and movement. She balances the planning of colour and composition with a responsive, exploratory approach to inking and printing. Following her studies at Bath Spa University College and Middlesex University in Fine Art, Lisa has had a successful career as an artist. She has made original prints for nearly fifteen years, and currently works in her studio on the Somerset Levels, using a 100-year-old cast-iron Albion press. In 2018 she reached the semi-finals of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year. Lisa’s work has previously exhibited at the International Original Print Exhibition and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
