About the artist:
Louise is based in Oxfordshire and has been cutting marquetry all her working life. Most of this was traditional marquetry however she now likes to design more eye catching wall panels based around an illusion theme.The use of wood veneers lends itself well to this .Whilst working on a project in New York she was lucky enough to visit the Met Museum and saw a fantastic display of the Studiolo from the Ducal Palace in Gubbio, designed and made in the 15th century. Seeing the three dimensional effects of the Trompe L’oeil marquetry panels was the start of her experimenting with 3D illusions in marquetry
