About the artist:
Lucy Cooper is a Brighton-based printmaker specialising in limited edition fine art screenprints. Her prints are colourful and uplifting, exploring appealing yet sometimes unexpected combinations of colour and form to reinterpret familiar sights. The screenprint process both informs and develops Lucy’s work, encouraging her to strip back and simplify the subject and to focus on the interplay of colour, shape and negative spaces. She is particularly drawn to the light and feel of sunny locations and to organic shapes found in nature. She presents scenes which evoke memories of much-loved places or objects, inviting viewers to be transported to the calm and warmth of sunny places or to be reminded of the beauty of familiar settings.
