About the artist:
Mari is a Sussex artist and printmaker, based in Steyning. She creates distinctive artworks, using water-based ink markers. Her original drawings are reinterpreted as iPad paintings and as hand-printed screen prints. Mari makes bold, quirky illustrations of birds and animals. She also loves portraiture. Her work readily captures the essence of her subjects and represents them in a unique, joyful and often amusing way. As a learning disabled and autistic woman, making art is a fundamental aspect of her life and identity. She has no formal art training but simply loves to draw and print. Her skills are nurtured, celebrated and promoted by her screen print mentor, Jo Telling, and by her mum.
