About the artist:
May sometimes feels she’s had 2 lives. The life before 2014 when she was a civil servant, and the one since then when she could devote herself to making art. Art Foundation course at in Brighton Met (2014–2016), several short drawing and painting courses in London, then a Fine Art BA at Northbrook in Worthing (2017–2022) where she gained a First Class A* degree. May’s passions are shape and colour. She experiments with mediums and surfaces and is happiest cutting out papers to collage. She is in love with Japanese washi paper, which she paints, stains and layers. Her inspiration for a new work is usually a random piece of paper from her vast collection, which she then uses as the foundation for the composition.
